Premier Disco Weddings isn’t a booking agency. It’s me — James Veal. If you choose to work with me, you deal with me personally from the first conversation to the last song of your evening. No middlemen. No subcontractors. No whoever-is-free-that-weekend.
How It Started
I fell in love with DJing as a teenager — watching how the right music at the right moment could transform a room full of strangers into something else entirely. I started running events at 16, teaching myself everything: how to read a crowd, how to build energy, how to move between genres without losing people, how to recover a floor that’s starting to empty.
Those early years were the foundation. Over time I built up a music knowledge that covers everything a wedding needs — soul, Motown, funk, 80s classics, 90s anthems, indie, R&B, current chart, and traditional Scottish ceilidh. I’ve also played at some of Edinburgh and East Lothian’s finest hotels and venues, which remains something I’m genuinely proud of.

Premier Disco has been established since 1979 — one of Scotland’s most trusted entertainment companies across weddings, corporate events, ceilidhs, and more. Premier Disco Weddings was created as a dedicated home for couples planning premium weddings at Scotland’s finest venues. A focused, elevated service for couples who want something genuinely special.

How I Work With Couples
Every wedding starts with a proper conversation — not a quick questionnaire. I want to understand your vision, your guests, the atmosphere you’re after, and the moments that matter most to you. That shapes everything I do.
You’ll also get access to your own personal online planning portal where you can submit your must-plays, first dance choice, do-not-plays and preferences at any time, in your own time. Many couples tell me this is one of the most enjoyable parts of the whole process.
On the day, I arrive early, coordinate with your venue team and other suppliers, and handle every transition so your evening flows exactly as it should. You’ll barely notice I’m managing anything. You’ll just notice that everything feels right.
What Matters to Me
I genuinely care about getting it right. After over 1,500 weddings, I still feel that. Every couple deserves a night they’ll talk about — and I take it personally when they do.
The couples who come back to me — through referrals, through reviews, through venue recommendations — do so because the night was everything they hoped for. That’s the measure I work to. Not a checklist. Not a contract. The feeling at the end of the night that it went exactly as it should.
