Wedding Ceremony Music — How I Help You Get It Right
The ceremony is the most emotionally charged moment of your wedding day. The music you choose for your entrance, the signing of the register, and your exit as a married couple sets the tone for everything that follows. Getting it right matters — and it’s something I take just as seriously as the evening entertainment.
What Does a Wedding DJ Do for the Ceremony?
Many couples don’t realise that a DJ can provide music for the ceremony as well as the reception. I bring the same high-quality speaker setup that I use for the evening, position it discreetly in your ceremony space, and manage all the music from a laptop so there are no gaps, no awkward silences, and no relying on a Spotify playlist that skips at the wrong moment.
I handle the timing too. Your processional music starts at exactly the right moment, fades naturally once you’re in position, and transitions smoothly into whatever you’ve chosen for the signing of the register. You don’t have to think about any of it on the day.
Ceremony Music Moments I Cover
- Processional — your entrance as a couple or bridal entrance
- Signing of the register — background music while you sign
- Recessional — your exit as a newly married couple
- Pre-ceremony music — background music as guests are seated
- Post-ceremony — music as guests move to drinks reception
What Music Can You Choose?
Anything you like. Ceremony music doesn’t have to be classical or traditional — I’ve played everything from John Legend to Hans Zimmer, Fleetwood Mac to Ludovico Einaudi. The only thing that matters is that it means something to you and fits the mood you want to create.
If you’re not sure where to start, I’ll guide you through the options during our planning consultation and make suggestions based on your taste and the style of your wedding.
Is Ceremony Music Included in My Package?

Wedding Ceremony Music — Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to hire a separate sound system for the ceremony?
No — I bring everything with me. The same high-quality speaker system I use for the evening reception is set up discreetly in your ceremony space. There is no need to hire additional equipment from your venue, and you will not be relying on a built-in system that may not have been tested recently.
Can I have non-traditional ceremony music?
Absolutely. I have played everything from Hans Zimmer film scores and Fleetwood Mac to pop chart songs and singer-songwriter tracks during ceremonies. The only thing that matters is that the music means something to you and fits the atmosphere you want to create. If you are unsure what works for each moment, I will guide you through the options during our planning consultation.
How do you make sure the music starts at exactly the right time?
I work with your registrar or officiant in advance and confirm the running order on the day itself. I manage all playback from a laptop, so I can watch the room and cue each piece of music at precisely the right moment. There are no awkward silences, no music that cuts off too early, and no last-minute rushing with a phone and a Bluetooth speaker.
What if we want live music for part of the ceremony and DJ music for the rest?
That is a popular combination. Many couples choose live strings or a solo vocalist for the processional and then use DJ-managed music for the signing of the register and recessional. I can work alongside other musicians on the day and coordinate the handovers so the ceremony flows smoothly throughout.
Is ceremony music covered in your packages or is it an extra cost?
Ceremony music is included in my full-day packages and is also available as a standalone add-on. Take a look at my wedding DJ packages for full details, or get in touch directly and I will put together something that fits your day.
