Premier Disco Weddings is the premium wedding arm of Premier Disco, which has been performing at weddings across Scotland for many years at some of the country’s most prestigious venues — including Prestonfield House, The Signet Library, Gleneagles, Fairmont St Andrews, Hopetoun House and many more. Premier Disco Weddings focuses exclusively on weddings, including ceilidh calling for your wedding. For other events — corporate functions, race nights, silent discos, ceilidhs outside of weddings and more — visit Premier Disco.

After booking, you’ll have access to a personal online wedding planning portal where you can submit your must-play songs, first dance choice, do-not-play list and any other preferences at any time. In addition, James arranges a dedicated consultation — by phone, video call or in person — to go through your day in detail, so the atmosphere you have in mind is fully understood before the day arrives.

Absolutely, and James actively encourages it. Your must-plays go in, your do-not-plays stay out. What James brings is the skill to read the room and fill the gaps in a way that keeps your dance floor moving. Couples who submit detailed preferences consistently have the best evenings.

Everything from classic Motown and disco through to 80s and 90s anthems, chart pop, indie, RnB, commercial dance and current chart music. For Scottish weddings, traditional ceilidh music is also covered. Whatever your style, it can be made to work for your guest mix.

Yes. The Dinner to Dancing and Full Day packages both include carefully curated background music during the wedding breakfast and drinks reception, transitioning seamlessly into the evening entertainment. It makes a real difference to the overall feel of the day.

James typically arrives two to three hours before the first guests enter the reception room, ensuring everything is fully set up, sound-checked and ready well before it is needed. Because of years of experience, load-in arrangements, goods lifts and setup restrictions at most major Scottish wedding venues are already well known.

I usually recommend finishing at midnight. Guests now get onto the dancefloor earlier in the evening, and by midnight most have had a brilliant night, so finishing then keeps the floor full for your final songs. A 1am finish is still possible if you would prefer it. In that case I stay flexible on the night and bring the big finale forward if the room starts to thin. Here is why midnight is the new 1am.

Yes — this is an important part of the service. Because of that, James liaises directly with your venue coordinator, photographer, videographer and other suppliers to make sure transitions between key moments — speeches, first dance, cutting the cake — are properly timed and flow naturally. You should not have to manage any of this yourself on your wedding day.

James carries full backup equipment to every wedding. So in the extremely unlikely event of a technical issue, the music continues without interruption. In many years of performing at weddings, there has never been an evening ruined by equipment failure.

Ceilidhoke is a format I created myself that alternates ceilidh dancing with karaoke through your evening reception, giving guests who want to be on the floor and guests who prefer to grab the mic both their moment — over an evening of up to 5 hours. Yes. James carries full public liability insurance, and all equipment is PAT tested (formally known as In-Service Inspection & Testing of Electrical Equipment). As a result, the insurance and technical requirements of every premium wedding venue in Scotland are met without exception. He can provide insurance certificates to your venue on request. Yes, straightforwardly. Many premium venues ask for this ahead of the day as a condition of allowing any supplier’s equipment to connect to their power supply. Just let James know when you book, or at any point beforehand, and the relevant certificates can be sent directly to your venue coordinator.

A deposit of £100 secures your date once you are happy to proceed. The remaining balance is due closer to your wedding date. A straightforward booking confirmation is sent and access to the online planning portal follows shortly after.

As early as possible — particularly for peak summer Saturdays and popular autumn weekends at premium venues. In fact, many couples book 12 to 18 months in advance. The sooner you get in touch, the better the chance your date is available.

Yes. All of Scotland is covered, including Edinburgh, Glasgow, Perth and Perthshire, Fife, the Scottish Borders, East Lothian, West Lothian, Midlothian and beyond. Travel costs are worked out for each venue and built into the fee I quote. Many venues carry no travel cost at all.
