Most wedding evenings pick one lane — dancing all night, or a photobooth-and-karaoke corner running quietly in the background. Ceilidhoke is a new format I’ve put together that properly combines the two. A Ceilidhoke wedding alternates ceilidh dancing and karaoke through your evening reception. Guests who want to be on the floor and guests who’d rather grab the mic both get their moment. I can even add in a DJ set or two just to make sure everyone is included.
What Is a Ceilidhoke Wedding?
It’s an evening of up to 5 hours. It mixes ceilidh dancing with karaoke instead of treating them as separate bits of entertainment. I open with a fully called ceilidh set, so nobody needs any experience. Then I move into a karaoke set and back to dancing. I shape the balance around your guest list. If you’ve got a dance-mad crowd, I lean more towards ceilidh. If you know your guests love a singalong, I build in more karaoke. Most weddings land somewhere in between. I call the dances and host the karaoke personally as standard. I can offer some band options too. Or you can bring in a live ceilidh band for the dancing sets alongside DJ-led karaoke. It’s the same choice already available on my ceilidh calling page.

Why It’s Worth Considering
Ceilidh dancing is one of the best ways to get two families properly mixing on the dancefloor. However, it’s physical — after a lively set, even keen dancers need a break. Karaoke fills that gap without letting the atmosphere sag. It also reaches the guests a straight ceilidh or disco night never quite does. These are the guests who’ll happily take the mic but wouldn’t dream of trying Strip the Willow. Swapping back to dancing once everyone’s had a breather keeps the evening building. It stops it flattening out after the first big dance set.
I’ll also be honest about whether it suits your plans. If your dancefloor is small or your evening window is short, a full night may be more than you need. One or two easy ceilidh dances and a short karaoke set can still give you the best of both. If you want the full evening, though, I’ll make sure the balance works for your crowd.

Do our guests need any ceilidh experience?
No experience required. I will guide you through each dance and it doesn’t have to be perfect, just FUN!
Can we choose the karaoke songs?
Yes, I have a huge catalogue of karaoke songs. Any I don’t have, I can buy on the night from legal karaoke download sites, as long as there’s a good 4G signal.
Is this DJ-led or a live band?
Primarily this is DJ-led, but that is completely up to you. If you prefer I can provide a professional ceilidh caller, individual musician or a ceilidh band to help the night along. You can also hire in your own band if this is your preference.
How much does Ceilidhoke cost?
Because there are various ways this can work, pricing is available on request. For a fully DJ-led night, the cost starts from £695.
How is the evening split between dancing and karaoke?
This is totally up to you. My experience says that trying too much ceilidh in one set is extremely exhausting, so I suggest breaking the ceilidh sets up with some karaoke or a DJ set every 2 or 3 dances.
