Winton Castle describes itself as offering ‘intimacy on a grand scale’, and as a wedding DJ Winton Castle bookings have consistently proved that phrase right. A Scottish Renaissance castle set within a 2,500-acre wooded estate in Pencaitland, East Lothian, Winton is just 30 minutes from Edinburgh but feels entirely removed from the world. It has been a royal gift, a family seat, and a piece of Scottish history since 1150.
I’ve performed at Winton Castle on a number of occasions. It’s a venue that limits its weddings deliberately, to only around 25 per year. Because of that, every couple gets exceptional personal attention.

What Makes This East Lothian Estate Special
Winton is entirely yours for the duration of your wedding — the castle, gardens, and accommodation for up to 20 guests within the castle itself and 34 more in luxury self-catering houses on the estate. Because of that, seven interconnecting reception rooms mean guests can move between spaces naturally. The Drawing Room, overlooking Sir David’s Loch, is stunning for ceremonies. Meanwhile, the walled garden with its wisteria walkway provides extraordinary photography settings.
DJ at Winton Castle — What to Expect
My approach starts long before the wedding day, with a proper planning conversation to understand your vision, your guests, and the moments that matter most. For example, you’ll have access to my online music planning portal, where you can submit must-plays, your first dance choice, and do-not-plays at any time. On the day itself, I arrive early, liaise with the venue team, and set up discreetly. However, I don’t play pre-programmed sets or fixed playlists. Instead, I build your night live, using your music suggestions as the foundation and reading the dancefloor moment to moment to keep the energy exactly right.
Popular Enhancements for This Venue
Uplighting in the castle’s stone rooms creates a spectacular effect, and a Scottish ceilidh is enormously popular at Winton. Because of the stone interiors, cold spark machines and confetti cannons work brilliantly here too. See all my enhancement options →
